Class Gift to IC

We’ve heard it quoted and, as former IC students, we know it’s true. “The only constant is change.” The changes in technology alone since we graced the hallways of IC are mind-boggling.  We learned how to communicate via electric typewriters. Now IC students use personal laptops and tablets.  IC had dial phones in the main offices. Today the school is equipped with Wi-Fi and modems.  Classroom chalkboards morphed to white boards and smart boards.

IC has grown every year, along with their clubs and sports teams.  There are currently 19 different sports teams for men and for women.  They have celebrated 5 state football championships over the past 20 years. The Math team has statistically earned the title of the biggest club on campus, larger than any sports team.

In the last 13 years, IC has had the opportunity to rebrand, rebuild, and reignite its commitment and place in the community.  In 2011, the parish worship center and church were newly renovated. 2013 brought the completion of the Plunkett Athletic Complex renovation while 2016 brought the dedication of the Dyer Family Resource Center.  2017 was a big year that saw the renovation of the main floor in the high school building, as well as the renovation and dedication of the McDonnell Center for the Arts.  In spite of the pandemic, the Farrelly Program Room was dedicated in honor of Sr. Megan Farrelly.  Through the very generous donations from two of our alumni, the IC Weight Room was renovated. 2021 also brought the renovation and dedication of the Innovation Lab and saw the completion of the Parish’s unbelievable Sacred Heart Chapel.

We will be able to view many of these renovations on our school tour June 11 at 5:30pm.

Wait!  There’s more! Renovations on the third floor of the high school begin May 30 and include a renovated counseling office space. In addition, IC is committed to an endowment fund which will allow the school to continue to function with financial responsibility and viability. The goal is to keep thinking future forward and function with fidelity and integrity at every turn.

We, as IC alumni, celebrating our 50+ years post graduation, are a part of the IC tradition and the IC community.  These projects and more will come to fruition because of people like us who have believed in the mission of IC and continue to support the school’s growth.

In keeping with 50th reunion tradition, IC Class of 1970 will be presenting the school with a monetary class gift.  The gift will be a way to thank IC for giving us a strong foundation and to demonstrate our commitment to the continued mission of IC.  We ask that you thoughtfully consider a donation to IC to be included in our class gift to the school.  To make a donation, please make a check payable to ICCP and mail your check to Carol Purcell, 226 Lorraine Circle, Bloomingdale's, IL 60108.

Despite a tremendous amount of change and growth, some things have remained constant. IC has continued its mission to develop young individuals’s minds, bodies, and spirits, to inspire their critical thinking, and to celebrate the Catholic tradition of leadership and service. Although the school logo has changed from ICHS to ICCP, the school remains easily identifiable to alumni and current students as “IC.”

If you wish to receive more information regarding upcoming goals and projects, please contact ICCP President, Nikki Kanzia, at nkanzia@iccatholicprep.org or 630.530.3485 and she will be happy to share the excitement and growth of ICCP with you.
